Prof. Dr. Mattias Desmet
Mattias Desmet is a professor of clinical psychology at Ghent University. He holds a doctorate in psychology and a master’s degree in statistics. He has been in private practice as a psychotherapist for 20 years.
He has published more than 100 peer-reviewed academic articles and he is the author of The Psychology of Totalitarianism, an international bestseller that has been translated into more than 20 languages in one year. Since the beginning of the corona crisis, he has become known worldwide for his theory of mass formation.
He has been invited on numerous podcasts and talk shows, including Tucker Carlson Today. What audiences particularly appreciate is that he maintains a calm and composed demeanour despite the numerous ad hominem attack campaigns against him in the mainstream media, which is entirely in line with his theory that the only cure for totalitarianism is to continue to speak calmly and boldly in the public sphere.
